I'm looking for some beaders in NYC to assist me in production of a clothing line. Does anyone now the best way to contact beaders in the NYC area? I need people who I don't have to teach but are very adept with a beading needle and working on delicate projects.
Thanks, Tara

I've seen this question before. You can place ads in the local papers.....

There are literally hundreds if not thousands of beautiful beaders in NYC and the boroughs. Ads in the papers and the trade papers are the best ways to reach them. You also could contact some of the well-established bead/button stores on
7th ave and on 35th street. Last thought is to call any of the museums, costumers, bridal stores and FIT staff. Be prepared to pay, though. When I got married the first time, in 1977, a woman beaded some designs on my dress, and it was in the $500 range. These women are artisans and are not inexpensive.

Are you unaware of craigslist.org? Place an ad there and your problems will be OVER.

not necessarily. a lot of the beaders in nyc area are, seriously, old men and women who are just passing on their craft. they are not as computer literate as many are in this day and age.

I notice we get this request for NY beaders every once in a while. Is it the same person?
