EEE BEAD FUN!

I'm really excited right now because I stayed up late so my kiln would cool enough to see if my latest experiments worked out... especially aftr I got them stuck together in the kiln and then DROPPED one of them trying to take them out to firepolish the mark off! I had to heat it up really quickly and then pick the schmaltz off without melting in the raised pattern, boy was I cheesed.

Anyway, they turned out SO great, I'm really happy! OK, it's nothing groundbreaking, just some large-hole focals, but I LOVE them. I can't wait to show pics! And make more. Tomorrow!

I can't wait to see them!!! You really need to get some flame dry bead release so you can dip mandrels later and give us pictures NOW!!! =o) And the large hole thing got me to thinking....I know...you could smell the smoke right? Anyhoo...I've seen rings made of glass for your fingers, but has anyone ever made toe rings? For some reason I figured you'd know if anyone. I have these 1/8 mandrels wrapped in steel wool and dipped in bead release that I did a while back, that I intended to do vessels on, but they look like the size of a toe ring. I was thinking that it might need to have the outer edge flattened slightly on one side to make it more comfortable to wear??? Just an idea.... (Those who can do, DO...those who can't do, make suggestions to the masters!...hee hee!)

I know people do make glass toe rings... but you know who to ask? Starlia! That girl is crazy for toe rings!

I think the flattening one side idea is really good.

I am off to Home Depo now, and when I return... more big-hole beads, woohoo!

Schmaltz is chicken fat. Also used to indicate too much of something - overdone. You meant schmutz = dirt. (schmootz)

Okay, now that I've given my Yiddish lesson for today, I'm going back to look at the beads.
