Gift Vouchers

Does anyone here offer gift vouchers for their work? My mum mentioned it. She wants to buy presents for people, and would love to give them some of my work she's just not sure exactly what people would like, or she only wants to give them £20 or something, not pay the full amount. The way I see it, it's a win-win situation for me I mean, I get the cash up front to buy more materials and they can spend it on something cheap or something expensive or even a commissioned piece if they want to splash out!

My mums being really great about me trying to sell my work - she's offered to put a catalogue up at work (she works in a hospital) in the staff room so that's loads of instant exposure! I'm really excited about the prospect of people wearing things that I made - it makes me really proud. And amazed! I can't wait until I can buy some lovely lampwork focal beads to use in my pieces, although I know I'll want to keep them all for myself.

Anyway, what do people think of gift certificates?

Charlie.

Yes, I do gift certificates. I talk over with the giver what they have in mind, work up a price and make a certificate for the recipient. So far no problems.

I've done them. Just printed up some on the computer for someone who wasn't sure what to buy, and then the recep e-mailed me and we discussed what she wanted until she decided on something.

It's an excellent idea, Charlie.

Gift certificates sound good, but a catalogue could be a big problem. A portfolio would be a better idea, I think.

Well it's just going to be a few pieces I can make over and over again. I've got a few designs in mind.

Yep, same here! It's not an official thing I have on my web site (although I really should....), but I have done them quite a few times for people who want to give something but aren't sure what to get.

Yes - I offer them.

Since you are in UK - payment would have to be through Paypal...

Global Priority Shipping takes a bite out of your spending dollar, as will customs... but I will provide Gift Certificates to people who ask.
