help: 30 GA gold-filled wire

Hello everyone...

I am not a regular user, but I drop by every once in a while to listen in. :-) I have a question, and thought I'd ask you guys.

I really like working with fine wire, and would like to get gold-filled wire in 30GA size, preferrably half-hard but dead-soft and full-hard are OK too. I looked everywhere (on-line, that is), but couldn't find any store that carry this size. Does anybody know where I can find it?

many thanks in advance, Na-Rae

That's just the first place I found. Have you looked at Thunderbird, Hagstoz, Indian Jewelers, Brandywine, maybe metalliferrous?

NR -- is 30 gauge durable enough to even bother with?

Hi all,

Obviously, not everywhere... :-)

I should have added that I really wanted it in half-hard. I thought I had bought it in half-hard before, but I'm beginning to think maybe I am mistaken. All the place I looked, they have it only in dead-soft. So maybe it's time to settle for dead-soft.

So, to sum it all, here's the list of the places that carry 30GA gold-filled soft wire that I found with all your help:

Rio Grande and other places didn't carry it. Not sure about Hagstoz... maybe I'll stroll down and find out some time. :-)

Thanks so much for all your help -- you guys are great!

best, Na-Rae

depends...i use it to crochet with..i must admit i forgot whether she said what she's doing with it. I use dead soft (sterling, not gold or goldfilled) because it work hardens nicely by crocheting.

I don't know if 30g GF is made.... CMI (?) had 28g, if I recall-- I tried wire crochet with that, and it worked up fine. Kaytee "Simplexities" on
