It's all your fault!

Every one of you!

Now I am going to have to find room in my teeny home for more stuff. Fortunately beads take up very little room. Well, compared to collecting elephants, I suppose.

I may end up with the equivalent of the Dale Chihuly boat as my home. If my husband complains, I'm pointing my finger and it's at you guys. I admit to a fixation with seed beads already, I do have a drawer full of them all tidied up in little stacking jars that screw together. And there's that box of beads under the bed. But that's it. Until now.

Now I want to learn how to do lampwork. Not a problem, you say? Erm. Perhaps. But where will I store the supplies and the tanks for the torch? They won't fit in my home, so now I have to convince the husband to get a new storage shed for that. Maybe he'll get infected with the bug too, which would be useful.

Remember, it's all your fault. If you see photos of a big boat full of glass objects in the UK, it's just me!

Bwuhahahaha. It's all the evil plan to assimilate as many as we can. :-)

It starts out with one bead, then two, then hundreds. They are all over the house. DH swears there isn't a room without beads in it. Well I can proudly say our guestroom and one of the bathrooms is bead free. Oh and the laundry room if I don't forget to take them out of my pockets.

Laundry room? Guest room?

Luxury!

I have essentially one big room. There's a door to the bathroom but it doesn't really do much other than keeping the rest of the crew from having a peep during bath-time. There is a door to the son's room but it doesn't shut all the way due to the tool box stashed there 'for now' until we're done re-fitting.

My son is adept at picking up seed beads and presenting them to me one at a time. His eyesight is amazing, I can't even see the darn things on the floor and he's finding them everywhere.

I'm resisting. Honest. Although I am having a bead moment, wanting to sew them on everything in sight. I'm resisting as I have other things to do first.

Every surface in my home seems to be covered with bead boxes, bead dishes, bead packets, and wire. We have a lovely new couch this year, and you can't sit on it. It's completely covered. (Well, I have several projects going on at once, and I don't like to do them all alone in my bead room, and....and......um.) At least Kevin doesn't *need* to sit there, which makes things a bit more simple.

How to tell if you're married to the right guy: He smiles at your beads taking over the house. Says it means YOU'RE there. How to tell if you're married to the wrong guy? He loathes your stuff on the couch (let alone anywhere else). I don't mean he's annoyed -- I mean he hates it. HATES it. (And you) ~~ Sooz

My husband used to have delusions about parking a car in our garage. He's over it now. I think I'll keep him.

I have to say, I'm very unlikely to make glass beads. I have the room, but not the money. And my dexterity is such that I have too much of a tendency to drop things. A no-no with fire. So I'll direct my artistry to the use of beads. Or to carving wood, stone and bone. And Precious Metal Clay.

I used to have all my beads in my porch room, but I find I almost always want to work right in the thick of things.

Su, what kind of beading are you doing now?

I'm not sure I have either, but I'm willing to find out. Of course, our home is a bit odd for that sort of thing but if anything catches fire it's not a worry because I can just drop it out the window. (G)

Right now I use beads more for embellishment of needlework or clothing but I've been known to string together a necklace or two. I found one from years ago that I made in the erm.. um... 70's.. with cinnabar beads, wood and brass beads. It's very much 'me' when I was young.

Storage shed! Totally! Don't forget to have him insulate it and run wiring so you can run your kiln, and a space heater in the winter. You'll need a window for natural light, as well as good full-spectrum overhead lighting so you can see your glass colors.

Let him keep a couple of yard tools in there and always refer to it as "the shed", that way he'll feel like he's getting something out of it too. :)

LOL. We live in Yorkshire, which isn't as cold as some places like Wisconsin but colder than... say... Jamaica. We have a generator already and mains power at the mooring, it's the room for the shed that's the biggest problem.

And sun. That's in short supply in the UK for much of the year. Rain, sure. Sun? Naah.

The biggest problem is that we live on a boat. A shed isn't as practical as one might think. I may have to find a glass-making studio of some sort locally and get them to give me lessons first. Then when the addiction is too strong, I'll get himself in to try it. He's an art teacher so that won't be too hard to do. *evil grin* After all, I am trying to find something to fill those boring days when he's finally retired.

i have a friend in another group that lives on a boat near Seattle. a sailboat. she shares it with husband, cat, and two ferrets. absolutely mind boggling, for me. even without my claustrophobia!

We just had this one stretched to 70' so we could have another bedroom. It's not uncommon on the canals to have a second boat as a butty, which I've been hinting about for some time, so we could use it for a studio.

All it takes is money. And if I spend money on beads, I won't have anything to put them in!
