Italian Bead Shops

Hi,

I haven't been on this site for a long time so please forgive me if there have been posts regarding this. We are going on a trip to Capri, Rome and Sorrento and I am wondering if there are any bead shops. Thanks for your help.

I do not remember seeing any at all in Sorrento or Capri. Sorrento has many shops that sell beautiful marquetry work. Also many sellers of cameos. Plenty of table linen shops to but I do not recall a bead shop. Capri as I remember is basically one main street with the gift shops of cameos and linens and the usual souvenirs.

My stay in Rome was very brief only to visit the main tourist attractions. The Trevi Fountain, Vatican City and the Coliseum. Did not get chance to go shopping. Shirley

I was unable to locate a bead shop in Rome. There was a very small bead shop in Florence.

I was told that I'd need to head to Murano if I wanted beads, especially glass. Unfortunately, I was unable to get there.

Hi Roxanne - Hi, my wife Lily and I have a wonderful (we think) bead and finished jewelry store in Florence, Italy.

Lily has been a jewelry designer for 20 plus years and has had bead stores in San Francisco, Seattle, Tucson, Lucca, Italy and now Florence. A number of years ago I took a bead making class in Umbria and have been making glass beads ever since. We would love to have you visit the shop. We are just a few minutes from Ponte Vecchio between Palazzo Pitti and Santo Spirito. Please visit our website

to get a preview of some of the beautiful things Lily makes and a sampling of beads and other items we have for sale. Of course, you'll also find the store address, hours etc. Don't hesitate to write or call. you can write me directly at snipped-for-privacy@beadedlily.com Also, in Rome there is a very uniquely cool and funky bead and glass store that shouldn't be missed. EVERY inch of it is covered in glass. Literally, even the stairs leading to the full basement. The beads themselves were not necessarily what we were looking for, but it is definitely a must-see for glass people.

Unfortunately I don't have the name or address. However, I think I can walk you there: Start in Piazza Campo dei Fiori, which is universally known in Rome and in all the maps. At one end of the piazza you'll see a big GUINNESS sign over an outdoor seating area. Leave the piazza by walking alongside this bar, which will then be on your left. Head straight down that street, which is the street the bead store is on. About halfway down, 2 or 3 minutes, it will be on your left. It shares a space with a cool Indian tea room which, when closed, is more visible then the bead store. Because many shops close Mondays and lunch hours and God-knows when-else, it may be closed. Keep trying though, because we were just there a few weeks ago and know that it is there.

Good luck! I hope you find it!

Sincerely, Tim
