I do not know if this will show up. My Isp has mega problems with their news server. It seems as if it as totally broken down.
I am not getting any messages apart from other Demon users. I am reading some on google. My e-mail address works perfectly if you want to get in touch with me.
hi there Shirley! I'm now reading through google too, as my server comcast.net is no longer offereing the newsgroup feeds. Google has some interesting features, I must say.
big hugs to you my friend, hope you are having a good day. Sarajane
For those having problems accessing newsgroups through their ISPs, try this free newsfeed:
nntp.aioe.org
Just add it as a new account in your newsreader (in Outlook Express, click on Tools, Accounts, News tab, add, etc.) Don't know how to add it in other newsreaders -- I've heard that Mozilla Thunderbird is a good program but I'm most familiar with Outlook Express.
I tried this earlier, and nntp.aioe.org has rec.crafts.beads, with messages going back to 10/3/08 (my local ISP's newsfeed goes back to 6/18/04). Hope this helps.
I have it on my OE but I do prefer Motzarella which is also free. Aioe goes down at times, as do all news servers. Motzarella has a Help for New Users ng if you are having trouble setting it up, or whatever. The owner is extremely helpful.
Hi Kathy....I have Aioe and Motzarella on here as *read & write* news readers. I have another one that is *read only* (freetext)
It seems that the freebies go down more often than those that are paid for, but Motzarella seems to be the best. If and when it goes down I switch to Aioe. Also, for some strange reason, Aioe deleted all posts by a friend of mine on an ng. He has a rather common German last name, so obviously there was some other person they were banning.
Another good one was also German but it costs money now.
*Individual.net* if memory serves me right. I used that one for eons. I don't think it costs all that much but they had some difficulties in getting monies from Canada and the US.
There is a website for free news servers and I will see if I still have it. Sorry, but will look tomorrow.
