Lampwork with Inclusions... musings

I'm in the middle of creating "supply kits" for an inclusions class I'm teaching in Dayton OH on Saturday. We'll be covering copper foils (among other stuff), and in the middle of packaging the white Thompsons enamel, I thought to myself: "Goodness, I hope that I don't get stopped by cops on my way to Dayton. Whatever would they think of this white powder?"

Traffic stops and car searches are sort of routine nowadays in some of the neighborhoods of Chicago...

Hi Cheryl No, we've not met (but Hi there!), and I'm not local either. I actually just moved from Chicago to Columbus, but a few months ago posted a set of copper foil beads on Ebay. Although they didn't sell, I was contacted by a few folks in Dayton about teaching a one-day workshop there. So... its on Saturday. We'll be doing copper foil, copper tube beads, enamels, sterling foil, silvered ivory, cubic zircons, dichro... I think the workshop is full, but if interested, then email Sam at snipped-for-privacy@aol.com.

If all goes well, we might also do the workshop again in the fall (I hope it all goes well - wish me luck - there are 12 people in the class), and I'll push for a florals class, too.

I had a set of copper foil beads on Ebay, and when I was asked how they were done, I guess that they liked the way I gave the answer. I was invited out there purely by chance when I told them I traveled a lot to teach, and could come to them to give a class, so don't worry, I'm sure that nobody was trying to undermine any lampworker in the Dayton area.

Ooops - may have phrased that wrong and you might have gotten the wrong idea... I don't teach locally - but I do know that there are others who do....

Again - where is the studio that is teaching - so I might refer people there who ask me to teach them (which I won't do -- no time, no space! LOL)
