More clay beads...again

Four or five years ago, I tried making clay beads for the first time. This weekend, while cleaning out my stash, I came across that early attempt -

After that, I said to myself, "Okay, clay is not your medium." Heh. Here's the stuff I did this past week. Lots of swirled lentil practice, and color-blending.

Hubby's gf and I have matching red and black yin yang tattoos. While laying a bead on my wrist to see how it would look as a bracelet, I noticed it was about the same size as my tat. So I made these two for matching bracelets for us -

And I believe I may have "klunked" myself with these :)

I'm finally starting to get better edges on the lentils; still trying to get rid of the pointy middles. I like clay :)

I really enjoyed seeing your progress over the years--very inspiring for "newbies" such as myself. I especially like the metallic lentils that you recently completed. Very pretty. I didn't know that polymer clay could look like that.

Yes, clay is your medium. Lovely work!

Do we get to hear more about this?

Those pictures give a good reason to keeping some of your old beginners work. The improvement is easy to see by comparison. Im glad you didnt give up. I do like the green and black beginners stuff tho. Thats a lovely color combo. Diana

Which, the tats or hubby's gf? :)

We're polyamorous; he's been with his gf for 12 years now. I've been with my bf for 7 years.

The inking was a birthday present to me from her, and we decided while there we should get matching tats.

Thanks for the compliment!

The color combinations were my attempts at doing Skinner blends, and the swirls were from an online tutorial -

Start with bicones, then lentil (can "lentil" be verbed?) them.

I like the points on some of them, but a few came out rather, um..."nipple-ish" .

Thanks!

I think it's awesome that you guys have managed to make long-term relationships work in a society that generally offers little support for such.

LOVE the matching tattoos! That's so cool!

That's a winning combination! I think those three things are why I seem to keep landing on my feet. Or maybe staggering to my feet after landing on my head. ;)
