New idea

I have a Paragon catalog. I just opened it up- and on p. 2 are these "heirloom ornament hangers" - basically a wire with a hook to go through the ornament and a hook to go over a tree branch with beads in the middle. And they use acrylics beads. Man how easy and cool would it be to make these????

I really like these a lot!! They would really go well on my tree. I just HATE the mass produced hooks you get in the stores. They're just plain ugly, and they're all silver tone, when most of my ornaments are gold toned. Right now all my ornaments are on ribbons, but i'd love to have hooks....these would be PERFECT. I'd have to make quite a lot of them, but shoot....it woudn't cost all that much. I would even probably use the acrylic beads (gasp!) because of the liklihood of breakage or getting lost. Thanks for sharing this...really!! Now...if i could only find a stocking hanger I like I'd be totally set.

How about this for a stocking hanger idea. Make a hook like the ones shown, but make one end to be imbedded in a moderate sized polymer clay sculpture of your chosing. Do them imbedding before baking the clay. If it isnt heavy enough to hold the weight of the full stocking then how about sticking some curtain weights in the bottom of the polyclay? There must be a way around this. How about using a store bought resin sculpture, drilling a hole to accept the wire, and using epoxy to hold it in? Diana
