Okay, here's the latest. Oma's docs have come right out and said that she is not expected to pull through this, although it may take a few days or weeks. So, we're still on standby here at our house, waiting/dreading the inevitable phone call.
I called my pulmonologist this morning, since my lungs are the worst of my problems and explained the situation. He understood completely, and said that "we'll get you strong enough to fly, don't worry."
I have an appointment with him on Monday, but if I have to go earlier than that, I am to call him at home, and we can meet at his office. In the meantime, he's asked me to do a little tweaking of my meds, and upped my Prednisone. (eek)
My sister in law called. She does not want to go, and indeed it's not the best idea for her to go, because she has my nieces to care for. But my brother will be going, and he's going to do the Mom-wrangling. Mom behaves a lot better for him than she ever did for me, so that's a real load off my mind. My Germany-hating, English speaking little sister will also go when the time comes, along with her husband. All four will take whatever cheap flight they can find, because the connections don't bother them. Both of the guys are big and strong and can deal with whatever luggage my Mom decides to drag along. They will also be renting their own car.
Mom is going out on Family Leave and Medical Act, she has some ungodly amount of sick and vacation time saved, and if/when the time comes, there are going to be a lot of details to take care of. The rest of us (brother, sister, me and assorted spouses) would be there for a week at the most.
So there we are. I'm going to do as much resting as possible right now, so I will have my batteries as charged when I have to do this. Thank you guys for all your support, I can't begin to say how much I appreciate it.
