OT - Easter's coming - time for treats!!

OK, Fat Tuesday is next week, it's the beginning of Lent, also the beginning of the Easter candy season!

Since I'm on a strict diet, all I can do is look or have a very occasional treat. A treat, for me, would be a white chocolate Easter bunny (I'm allergic to most regular chocolate, so I can only have a little of it), or some of those almond pastel colored M & M's. I find myself haunting the candy aisle at our local CVS, but I haven't bought anything yet. I was SO good over Christmas, I didn't buy one bag of the green/red M & M's. hmmm.

What's everyone else's treat? I know you guys love your peeps!!

DARK CHOCOLATE Easter Bunny from Esther Price Chocolates.... ummmm believe me - their chocolates are better than Godiva (which I find "hard" brittle, and bitter) Esther Price is a Dayton OH candy maker -- but they are also available "on line"

take the "factory tour" -- it's amazing. Unfortunately they don't have the "seasonal" Easter stuff up on the webpage yet...

Patti, you sound like me. I've been working really hard to lose some weight and my treats have been pretty limited! I was really good around all the Christmas goodies, although I did get into some White Chocolate Chex Mix! Fortunately, conversation hearts are one of my fave candies and I can work a few into my diet, so I've had some of those lately.

Chocolate gives me migranes, but I think my favorite Easter treat is those malted milk robin's eggs! I always loved those, even with that little layer of chocolate on them!!

(I hate to admit that I've never liked Peeps, but they are awfully cute to look at.)

Wahhhhhh! I survived Christmas and ate maybe only 6 cookies at my Mom's and ONE piece of coconut cake (she makes it from scratch and it's incredible) at Christmas dinner.

Since I'm allergic to chocolate, Valentine's is kind of a non-event for me.

Oh, and I've been doing Weight Watchers since September (32.6 lbs down!)

But Easter candy is my weakness! I love those Cadbury caramel eggs (I scoop out the caramel and leave the chocolate....wish they'd make dark chocolate ones cuz I can tolerate more of that....but maybe I'm better off, huh?) My other Great Love is coconut nests from Russell Stover and others.....they look like bird nests in coconut, dipped in white, milk or dark chcolate (I like the green color for some reason), and a few jellybeans inside to look like eggs. I can only eat one bite at a time, they're so rich, but that way they're good for a few days.

And I loooooove spice gumdrops. For some reason they taste better this time of year. LOL

They sell the Cadbury caramel (and creme - yuck!) eggs in a smaller size by the dozen now... If you can not eat the whole dozen, and can be content with just one now and again, it might be a nice compromise? Or, buy a dozen but take one and put the rest out at work for everyone else to enjoy. (Of course, that works out to 1 small caramel egg for $3 for you!! But, worth it if it means not eating the whole dozen in a frenzy - if you ask me, at least!)

SPICE GUMDROPS.

*weeping*

That's definitely one thing they don't have in the UK. I can, however offer something even nicer than Cadbury caramel.... Galaxy caramel is better.

I'm going to assuage my grief at not having spicy gumdrops with a box of Lindor tonight.

I envy those of you in the UK because you have easy access to my favorite bar (Curly Whirly) and favorite candy (refreshers). There is a web site that will ship them to me at a terrible price. For our 7th anniversary, my wonderful hubby ordered 7 each of 7 different English chocolate bars. mmmmmmm

Curly Whirlys! You can lose a filling on those!

I can see we're going to have to organize a Cadbury's Round Robin!

Where in Yorkshire, Erin-Joi?

She was born in Leeds, but raised in Scarborough. Her parents didn't think Leeds was very safe in 1940. Mum immigrated to the US in 1963.

I think the fact that the caramel would pull out a filling is part of the attraction to Curly Whirlys. Well that and the fact that Cadbury's caramel is so dreamy.

Leeds, just up the road from us. Emma Green is near Scarborough. I don't think Leeds is safe now, coming through there by canal was like going through a scene from Mad Max, there were burnt-out cars shoved down the embankments and you are required to make your transit through one set of locks by 8am to avoid the local 'yoof' who are slightly troublesome. No one willingly goes through that portion of Leeds by boat without knowing what they're doing or what time to go.

Fortunately the yobs sleep in so we got through without much trouble.

I'm catching up like mad from the last week or two but if you want a few Curly Whirleys, let me know as I'm doing a bit of shopping for some other Cadburys/Galaxy addicts.

I'm really loving the Dove truffle eggs. Milk chocolate with a light truffle inside. They're so addictive! Of course, purple peeps are my very fave. especially stale!
