OT: GRRRRR

So off I go (online) to place a glass order with Frantz (he announced on WC he found some of the old copper green.) So I thought I'd give it a try and wanted to buy a few other things.

As has been discussed the website is a pain to navigate. But I managed. Get all the way through the ordering/checkout process until the LAST step and hit an error page. Numerous times. Can't process the credit card. So I try another credit card. Same thing.

That's just f***in annoying. I've sent an email to the sales contact - but they are closed so I won't hear anything until morning. Booooo.

I started to order from their site last week and found it to be a big pain. I'll NEVER do that again!

Frantz's website sucks. Much better to call them and place a phone order. You have to be approved by them by phone prior to even ordering from their site, AFAIK. They give you a password to use for ordering. Ridiculous in my opinion. Hopefully you will get a good email answer tomorrow.

Yep. Well since it was after hours I though it would be better than waiting until the next morning.

But I did get the order in the next morning.

Yes it does suck. I did some web page usability when I was still working at Bellsouth- and we saw some sucky pages - and the Frantz page is right up there.

I already had the approval nonsense done a month or so ago.

Well I called Friday morning after trying to order through t he web site again.

There is a problem with the web site in that it WON'T accept credit cards (yet). So what they had me do was to check that I was paying by COD/Money Order, then in the notes box indicate which credit card I wanted them to use (the credit cards were on file from my earlier attempts to order). This is the only way to order through the website right now if you are using a credit card. Argh - no mention of this anywhere on the site.

I was going to post the "fix" on WC but I can't find the thread anymore.

But my order is in - and soon (?) I'll have copper green and ink blue to play with.

Do they have the 'good' ink blue? The poundage I got from Wale is (I swear) cobalt.

I heard that it is the "good" ink blue. Sure hope so. I heard about the "cobalt" batch.

ditto on the stuff I just got from Arrow Springs... they said the batches vary ... but that it acts differently from cobalt. I made a few beads --it is a slightly different blue than cobalt. Cobalt is more "brilliant" and this is more like blue ink.... Cheryl of DRAGON BEADS Flameworked beads and glass

What really blows is that Frantz seems to be the only ones who have the good copper green right now. However, this person has the good opal yellow and I believe the good ink blue:

I have ordered from her several times lately and am about to order some more. Her prices are odd, but she does sell in 1/4 lb lots, and has many of the newer colors. Haven't seen any copper green from her in awhile though, but the opal yellow I got from her recently is the BEST of the lot I have ever seen.

She's perfect if you are desperate for a color and can't find it anywhere.

but lately he has not had any newer colors up. Often he can get it if you email him, though. Good prices and fab service. I do still order from Frantz, but only if I need a lot of glass and only over the phone. Or I drive there so I can get what they have on hand without wondering whether the person on the phone is really telling the truth about what they have in stock. Oh, and CR Loo is FAB - they have a few newer colors, great prices and wonderful service.

I've gotten some stuff from the Moretti and More guy. I've often found that CR Loo is out of everything when I order. LOL!

I may just lay off the Moretti for a while until everyone gets stocked back up. I want to place a HUGE order with Check Glass, but I can't get anyone to answer my emails. Yikes!

I have a bajillion pounds of Bullseye coming tomorrow, got a ton of Glass Alchemy and clear Pyrex rod and tubing last week. Have ten pounds of Vetrofond clear and a few Moretti colors coming Tuesday.

I guess I won't die if I can't get another pound or so of the good Ink Blue, eh? LOL!

I've also ordered from Moretti and More. But you're right - the newer colors aren't there. I have the other ebay one you mentioned in my favorites but I haven't checked her store lately. Hmmmmmm.

Thanks for the info on the other suppliers!!

LOL! Yes. Definitely. I guess I didn't realize how big "a case" of glass is until my Pyrex rod and tubing came. I'm searching right now for a source for the square PVC downspout stuff so I can put together some more storage.

You won't recognize the place when you come back, Kathy.

Ooooh! Here's my new torch!

UPDATE: A truck just brought me all the Bullseye in the world! Plus four pounds of Schott clear rods. I'm guessing they shipped the 40 lbs. of Schott cullet separately.

This is one of the best glass deals I have ever seen...

I love Max. I took him with me to teach the other day, and I let the women touch him. He liked that. A lot. LOL! I haven't even fired him up yet, as I'm waiting to see what needs to be on the other end of my hoses: I have an OG-15 oxygen generator and a Natural Gas Booster coming. Both should be here any day now.

I think he is the coolest phallic symbol I have EVER owned.

Cool. Good luck on the squar tubing. I'm still deciding what I want to use for glass storage.

You get my email about Dec?
