OT - I'm back and you ain't gonna believe this!

Well, after having the net down for a little over a week, I'm back!! (Need to pay those bills!) Briefly skimmed the 2114 messages I had backlogged. Good vibes to everyone that needs them, Happy B-day's to those that had one, sorry Sooz was feeling unappreciated, etc. Damn, you all talk a lot! (but in a good way) Didn't click on any links (don't really have the time) but I'm sure they were all full of pretties. Just have to catch up with the new ones. And did Nicole send BFNR to EVERYONE? I got one too (when I really needed it) Thank you, thank you, thank you. Now, just to figure out what to do with all of them. Now for the you ain't gonna believe it part. Last wednesday had an appt and got home just as Ron (the problem child) was getting on the bus. And then a phone call about 1/2 hour later to come get him at school because he took a pocket knife to school. Showing off (just like dad) but with the school's zero tolerence rule worst cast scenario was permanent expulsion from all local public schools. NO!! I love the boy dearly but I honestly don't think I'm up to homeschooling him. Then talked down to a year's suspension. Still not good but much better. Well, one of our sitter's mom just "happens" to be on the school board and he called his mom (who wondered why he hadn't called earlier) and with that little bit of luck, he ended up with a 10-day suspension (which would've been up the 8th but since no school on the 9th or 10th he'll go back the next monday, the

13th) Much better. Got him an appt with mental health on the 30th which seemed to go well (with return visit scheduled) Probably ADHD (heriditary) and we'll see what happens. Knew there'd be a problem somewhen but didn't expect this soon.

And then my washer broke. I managed to blow up the motor on a commercial grade used FREE maytag. Damn, I'm good!

Just wanted to share. You all take care.

Could always be worse. Could be naked, hungry and homeless! But, I could also be independantly wealthy, have a house big enough for everyone and never run out of anything!

AH YES - been there and done that!!!!! That's what my blockhead son did during his senior year - and ended up with a home tutor for the last 8 weeks... and missing his senior prom.... (suspended means suspended around here!) If he has ADHD -and an IEP - they MUST HOLD a manifestation hearing. If you can convince them that his act (a typical dumb "I didn't think" ADD stunt) was based on impulsivity and "not thinking" related to his disability -they can't suspend him forever...or at least the law requrires that if they do - they MUST provide him with EDUCATIONAL SERVICES during the suspension ..... Again - this is IF he has an IEP. IF so - they probably realize it is more expensive to tutor him at home than to send him back to school. Since you got it down to ten days -they don't have to provide services for 10 days or less of a suspension... live with it and move on...) basically, you are lucky they dropped it to ten days. My school system opted to pay the cost of the tutor (which I thought was pretty stupid on their part... but that was their call.) Cheryl of DRAGON BEADS Flameworked beads and glass

Yes on the IEP and that he's got a known problem (just waiting to see exactly the extent of it) And that he's only 5 and not mature enough yet to realize how wrong an act it was (after all, he sees dad do things like this all the time and nothing happens) My telling dad he needs to set a better example seems to be falling on deaf ears but I could be wrong. It might help that he still likes school (he walked there again today) and for now it's a punishment to be away from it, not a treat. Just wondering what it's gonna be like as he gets older.

Thank you for your concern and example. Every little bit of information helps!
