Poll: About Xmas colored jewelry

How many people in here have actually sold jewelry made out of red & green Christmas-colored or sculptural lampwork? I have had an abysmal time of it! I've made earrings, bracelets and necklaces to sell at galleries and craft fairs... and NONE have sold...except one sale for a Xmas lightbulb bracelet made of fuscia glitter polymer clay.

Why do you think Christmas (sculptural or not) colored lampwork sells so well to buyers? When by my experience, no one buys the finished jewelry?? What do you guys think? love, Linda

I think it may be that red/green is totally associated with Christmas and those colors are not usually worn at other times during the year. Many women are looking for colors they can wear all the time, not just during one season. Of course, that doesn't explain the popularity of Christmas lampwork. I have several pieces of clothing with Christmas themes due to doing a lot of Christmas craft fairs. I went to visit my Mother in Law a few days before Christmas and she asked me why I bought the Christmas denim shirt I was wearing since she thought it was wasteful to buy something you could wear only one day during the year. I've noticed that clothing manufacturers are emphasizing snowmen, skaters, and winter themes as well as the Santa and angel figures since they can be worn before and after Christmas. I personally am sick of red/green and prefer blue or purple with silver for wrapping papers, and have noticed a gradual shift away from red/green towards other colors in decorations as well. Patti

I think people do buy red&green jewelry at Christmastime. Last year I sold several pairs of one of a kind red and green gemstone earrings. (Dang! WHy didn't I make any this year? Is it too late?) Today a woman came into the gallery where I was helping out wearing what I am certain were red, white and green polymer clay candycane earrings with big red polymer clay bows.
