This is a good question. To the best of my knowledge the dye doesn't come off. They are sealed with a poly coating and a resin coating is between them. As far as I know they are very durable.... but I still conside them fake Paua. lol Because they are made from laminates... don't get me wrong... they are nice!

i don't think i would want to use them with all that extra stuff on them, anyway. i wondered how they got them thick enough to drill lengthwise.

They glue 2 pieces of laminate together sandwich with a black resin. After what I just heard about the dye fading I won't buy any! Imagine that... The Paua King of Ohio thinking of buying dyed Paua! Not in this liftime! Humpf!!

Different seed beads have this problem too. Those pearly metalic ones are really bad for that.

My more common problem with those is having them get wet (rain, sweat, shower, etc) and having the thread scrub the color out.

10 of the round things with all the holes? I will have to look and see if I have 10 left and I have NO idea what to charge. lol I am new at the hole thing and am use to just selling pieces. I may even set my prices to high for the ones I have on Ebay? Oh boy... this is confusing. Harry New Zealand Paua Shell at
