where do you buy supplies?

I've found the group website very informative and helpful, love Carolee's! The thing is though, there's only one scrapbook store around here and I really like to see stuff before I buy.

I know there's at least one [more?] direct sales group out there but sort of wanted to get opinions before contacting anyone. Have you bought from these party plans, service, qualitity etc? Do they have a big selection? Is it worth it to you or do you prefer to order online? Thanks for your help. I didn't want to get something started if it wasn't going to be worth it. There's an actually very nice Mary Kay lady that's practically stalking me right now and I really don't need another situation like that!

Janet,

You have to find the best product for you. Peruse some of the direct sales sites, look at their product, philosphy etc, and see if it's something that appeals to you. If some of the products or layouts seem overwhelming look at the different components themselves and see if there's any one part that appeals to you, dont worry about the layouts. I am a direct sales consultant for two companies and dont push anything on my customers. I let them know via newsletter of products and specials etc..but as someone who cant stand telemarketers and pushy sales person (like a fellow area consultant with another company pushing me to have a party and check out her new product), so I dont use that philosophy on others. My enthusiasm for my product in sharing with customers and friends speaks volumes for itself.

I can totally relate to the "stalking" thing. As I say that, I add that I am a Stampin' Up Demonstrator. There are people who don't understand that sometimes they are contacted by somebody who just wants information...they MIGHT buy now or 6 months from now or 2 years from now or never, but hounding them doesn't help at all. I highly recommend going to the websites of these companies. Try

for a list of most direct sales companies. It's kinda the "bbb" of direct sales and only list companies "approved" by them. You can then contact each company directly. Most have some sort of locator on them so you can find a rep close to you. Good Luck!

Janet, next time she calls tell her you know a rep that gives a 50% discount on Mary Kay and to leave you alone.. LOL (I sell MK but don't hound people and since I'm deactivating this year, I'm selling at cost so I can just meet my minimums for now...) MK can get to be sooo pushy...

I buy almost all of my scrapping supplies online anymore. It seems that the lss in my area are still stuck in the days of stickers and diecuts. I want (and need) more!

Leslie, I am with you. I have not gone to my LSS in over a month, I went there yesterday...boo hoo. NOTHING is new. It seems that they only care about the vendors they buy from and not what their customers need. I find more stuff at Michaels, Joann's and online, mostly QVC.

I tried talking about a couple new paper lines at one lss that I thought was keeping up on things. She didn't know about arctic frog or basic grey. I guess I'll just stay home and pay for shipping instead of gasoline :)

Does QVC have a certain time they do scrapbook stuff? I may be the only person in America who has never watched it! LOL!

I buy from Michaels, JoAnn's, Walmart, Menards (they don't have alot though), Hobby Lobby. I've gotten some stuff out of the LTD catelog. I've heard others say the've gotten stuff at Big Lots and the Dollar Tree. I've never found anything at mine. And occationally I get stuff from the creative memories ladies. OH yeah, the biggest place I get things is EBAY!!!!!

I don't really watch much, I use QVC.com. But, they usually have special every month that has Lisa Bearnson from Creating Keepsakes on, and that is when they usually debut the new stuff.

OK, checked out QVC.com and yikes! I want too much already! A couple of those sets look like really good values. Have those of you who ordered from there liked the quality of what they've gotten? Is it easy to get page protectors and refills for the albums? I really appreciate all the help I'm getting from everyone here, btw. I'm learning a lot.

I've bought a few things from them and liked all of it. If you can't get the refills there, Michaels carries refills for most albums to include K & Co, so does AC Moore for most and Joanns Etc.

I ordered recently a foam stamp set that was great. I got 26 stamps for

19.95, and recieved them within about a week. They are really cute. And I'll get a lot of usage out of them. I was surprised at how fast they came. It was the first time I'd ever bought anything from on tv. I came across it quite by mistake when I was up with the tv on early in the morning trying to catch the weather at like six am.
