hat pattern for Mom

Dec 05, 2005 10 Replies

Hi everyone,

My Mom is trying to find a pattern for a hat she made a few years ago. It's knit on the vertical, has rows of knit (looks like maybe 6), then rows of purl. It looks like a typical toque style hat with a cuff. She thinks it's a Beehive pattern. Any ideas?

thanks, Linda

This is for younger kids , but I bet you could just cast on a few more and make it bigger.

this helps,Coggie

Hi Coggie,

Thanks for the link, but that isn't it :( The pattern doesn't go around the hat, it goes up and down, so when you knit you are knitting the full depth of the hat from crown to cuffed brim.

thanks, Linda

Thank you for that link, Coggie. I am going to be making hats & scarves (I already have a lot of slippers made up from when I used to sell them at craft shows) to donate to the needy to help keep them warm. I've contacted Contact House in my town (they normally only collect food, but because it's Christmas, they are happy to receive these items for Christmas gifts for some needy children), and Inn of the Good Shepherd in the nearby city who are thrilled about getting warm items to help the needy... they also collect and distribute food and other household items to help the needy. So this link you gave, and the other ones that I followed from there will help out a great deal in my promise to St Jude to help keep people as warm as possible this winter. :o)

Kind of like those teacozies with the stripes in different colours? Or are they knitted around too? I've never made one, so I wouldn't know. I'm sure someone will be able to help though.

Linda.... could this possibly be it? I just went to google and typed in "Sideways knit hat" and this was the very first one that came up. I hope this is it! If not, I'm still looking! ;o)

Two more for you! ;o)

What a good searcher you are Gemini! But not the right one yet :( It's similar, but has about six rows showing the knit side, then 6 rows showing the purl side.

thanks, Linda

:o) Thank you! I'm sorry they weren't the right one though!
