Question about lariats

Dec 12, 2005 3 Replies

Does anyone know where there is a good image or how-to instructions for making a beaded lariat necklace? I have seen them before but I don't really get how you put them on and keep them on. I can't figure out the catch situation with them either. Or is there one?

Thanks.

You can either tie the lariat or double it and put the ends through the loop. Just do a google search for "lariat" or "lariat necklace" and you can find lots of pics. There's no catch.

I really like the lariat style, because it's so easy and can be worn different ways. I prefer to loop mine and put the ends through the loop, though they also look nice when they're wound around the neck a couple of times and knotted. I once made one that's long enough to be a belt, too.

here's a lariat I did:

they're easy to make, and easy to wear..I've never had one fall off or slip, although if you're in the habit of playing with your jewelry (like me), you can make them not hang quite right if you keep fiddling with them while they're on..like in the pic of me wearing one. I kept playing with it all night, and made the loop go wonky.

Wow, what incredible work you do! Mine won't be even remotely that nice. I am thinking a single strand is about all I can manage! *lol*

Thanks for the images and ideas. I feel much more capable now.
