Me. Much too hard and crumbly. I carry the stuff around in my pockets for a day to warm it up, and it still won't squoosh through my macaroni machine.

I only use polymer clay in wintertime, it gets too soft to work with in the summer.

The other thing is I am trying to justify how long I work with my hands and make do tools before I can buy some real tools. My head is swimming from all I have been looking at on the internet. I do know one thing: I don't like Sculpy III that much, it's too soft. I like all those acrylic tools and of course...the PASTA MACHINE...haha. At least a trip to the art and craft store is not such an adventure. My bank, supermarket, and craft store are all in the same little strip mall :)

Some of my home-made tools include a cut up credit card type thing, (I think it's a book club card) a pencil (the eraser is great for smoothing) a stylus (not home made, but it works) loads of wax paper, measuring spoons, a ruler, and something I have yet to try, but I'm told it works well--Sharpies! Not the black ones, the ink doesn't take well to the clay, but the colored ones are supposed to work really well. I did buy the small Sculpey set--three tools and a brayer.

Thanks for the suggestions. A brayer, that was one thing I thought would work real nice instead of the pasta machine. I have a variety of brushes and poking things. Sharpies, ooooo!

Do ask your dentist for any old, wrecked tools next time you get teeth cleaned.....as was suggested here previously. S/he should be willing to just

*give* them to you -- at least one or two.

My dentist saw the gleam in my eyes as I sighted on his tray of old tools and said, "Not ALL of them, now!" Haw! ~~ Sooz To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong. ~~Joseph Chilton Pearce
