sort of OT - Color and depression

I was reading online that wearing the color orange helps to fight depression. I never got to finish the article, so I'm not sure what the reasons are for this. I do know that I feel sort of peppy when I wear orange, maybe because it's such a bright color. I've been wearing a lot of it lately because I have an increased color palette since I've dyed my hair from steel grey to honey blonde with highlights. Wearing purple makes me feel happy, maybe because it's my favorite color. Does anyone else have reactions to different colors? What about the lampworkers here, do you make orange beads? Do they make you happier? I have made a few fused orange beads, but find it a little difficult to work with since the orange glass I have is so bright. I'm going to experment this week and see what I come up with. I do have a peachy orange mix of frit from Val Cox which I use quite a bit and like those effects.

I wear a lot of purple because it is my favorite color also.

In decorating my condo, I picked a salmony-orangey color called "Fresh Peaches" for my living room. It brightens the place up and everyone comments on the color.

The bathroom will be ocean blue, maybe staring dark blue on the bottom wall and shading to a lighter blue as it moves up the wall. There will be fish WITH LIPS everywhere once painted.

I wear a lot of purple too, and find it more of a calming color. But I tend to feel best in red. It's like a new found color for me cause as a kid I hated wearing anything red. Now I love it. When I was thin I used to like just a white t-shirt and jeans, but now a white top makes me look like a big marshmallow!...LOL!

An article just came out in a respected psychology journal about how seeing the color red just before taking a test tends to make people perform more poorly. Maybe it's a long-term association with the use of red ink to mark errors?

Oh, yes, on all counts. Color makes me happy - and I have an emotional reaction to most colors I see. When I am depressed or mellow, I tend to spend more time making neutral colored beads (hence my current auction).

Orange is often worn by Buddhist monks because it is considered a very sacred color.

Orange tends to make me thirsty, lol, and cheerful.

Double rainbows! For some reason this reminds me of Bruce St. John Miers work (I probably misspelled his name, sorry)

This reminds me of one trip my family took to the beach and we drove THROUGH a rainbow... all of the bright dancing colors cascading over us... it was like a light filled blessing. Missouri Skies... wow
