Splendid Serendipity (mostly on topic)

So Mike has worn me down. We've flogged the calculators more than I can count and he's finally persuaded me that we can afford to build a new house. THE house that we've been obsessing over. (Fill in various bounces, grins and giggles here). It's the perfect floor plan for us, the general package is pretty darned good, and now all we have to do is wait for the lot we want to become avialable for building. They release blocks at a time and ours will probably be one of the last groups. Likely some time in June before we can move ahead, then 6-8 months building time.

Anyway....after some debate about moving me into the garage, it looks like IF we get this house I'll probably get what's designated as the loft space. I figured it was a sign from the gods that it was mine (house and room) when we visited a framing-in-progress house and discovered that the natural gas line passed right up through the likeliest space in "my" room. Easy to T-out for a connection.

We've run all kinds of numbers to figure out down payment, points, appliances and "extras". Mainly stuff like area rugs, tiling and curtains. Then Mike looks at me and says "I guess we need to add in an oxygen generator, too." Oh YES!!!! I know it's ultimately for his benefit....he's the one who carries my tanks downstairs and uphill to the car (and back again) for refills. But OMG this is so great! No more running for ANYTHING. The gas comes out of the wall, the oxygen comes out of a box. How great is that??? Mike thinks I'm totally nuts, that THIS would get me revved more than moving into a new house. Hey, I'm practical!!! I mean, I'm more interested in what kind of ventilation to install, over carpet and wall colors. LOL

We went to Lowe's this evening to collect paint chips. Nothing is quite right. But then, that's fluorescent Hell in there. I think I need some posterboard. And a trip to a good fabric store. And some aspirin. This is so cool!!!!!

Okay, I'm done now.

For those who want to obsess along with me, here's the floorplan and an elevation drawing (different because the version we want has a 2nd floor balcony).

And here's a pic of the model:

is going to be offering a new generator that doesn't use a holding tank and she said it is better than the ones out there now that people are using. For those that don't know of her and are interested, she's the one that sells a lot of lampworkers their oxygen concentrators. Here's what she wrote to me about the new generator:

"The new generator I will be offering possibly will have 2 ports...that means you can run two torches off of it without a holding tank! For a lynx, though, you would just run one torch from it...8 lpm - 20 psi. That 17 SCFH"

I'm not sure of the pricing but it's worth looking into if you're thinking of going that route.

Good luck!!!

How exciting! And scary! The process will be aggravating and exhausting but it's worth it.

thanks Lori!!!! I emailed Paulette today to ask about compatibility with my Midrange Plus. I looooove that torch, especially now that I have a hush tip on the premix part. Melts thick boro "like buttah" so I want to keep that power any way I can.

BTW, thanks to you and your mentions on YOUR new studio, I think I'll be getting a stainless counter for my workbench. Wahoo!
