Hi Susan,

The copper ruby I used is Reichenbach "Opaque" Copper Ruby, not the transparent version. As far as I know, it's only available in frit form. I pull stringers from it by dipping a red hot 1/8" mandrel in a pile of it until I have a gather big enough to pull from. I got 1/2 kilo from Olympic Color Rods last year and I'm going through it like wildfire.

Hmmm - I think it's the same thing I have. The thin copper ruby cane I have is opaque. My LBS owner, also a beadmaker, has some secret sources for a lot of things - she's seriously addicted and always off to classes, glass factories, etc. But I will also track down the frit as well. Thanks for the info!! And again, what a gorgeous set of beads.

Susan
