WIPED OUT Zzzzzzzzz OT

If I'm not lively the next few days, it's because I'm WIPED. I had class last night, then a deposition today far away (I'd witnessed 2 people get hit by a car), and tomorrow a funeral for a close family member.

The class was pearl knotting....so all I want to do is make new jewelry right now! Dag blag arrgh.....No time to do it (no energy when I did get a little time). I treated myself to two bead stores today after the depo, but by the time I got home I was so hurt and exhausted I could hardly struggle enough to get out of the car. Wish it had been beneficial physical therapy (I read Kathy N-V's account of today's PT), at least that would do me some good! Haw! As it is, all I did was talk to lawyers and spend too much money. (But I looked GOOD) ~~ Sooz

You're going to be flat on your back if you keep over-doing things. (stern finger shaking time). Dora

You look mahvelous, dahlink!

Take a nice warm bath and slip between the sheets, Sooz. Besides the physical drain you're experiencing, tomorrow you'll face the emotional drain. Take good care, dear. I'm sorry for your loss.

Well, I got subpoenaed for the deposition, so I couldn't do much to avoid it. Then my darling great aunt, who was a big thing in my life, died, and I'm just not going to miss her funeral.

And....miss pearl knotting class?!?!?!?!? Are you --- MAD?????? (I'll get a massage on Friday, I promise) ~~ Sooz

Oh, Margie -- you are always so loving and warm. I love you. It's okay, my great aunt was in her late 90s. (Not bad, huh?) I'm being good. Pizza is being delivered tonight -- no work for moi.

I really did. Hot stuff, dressed up [appropriately]. (Both lawyers flirted with me after the depo! Wow, that was fun!) hee hee ~~ Sooz

Sorry for your loss. I lost several relatives this year. They were all in their

80's and 90's, but it is still hard to see them go.

Good. I hope they work you over until you're jelly. Dora

Bob called me to task yesterday about "running around and wasting energy the second you have a good day. Then you pay for it with a week of pain."

It's true, but I interpret it differently: I have good days and bad days, and there seems to be very little rhyme or reason as to their distribution. I know that if I overdo, I will be in pain, but I could just as easily have a painful day even after I've done nothing. The pain comes and goes when it wants, sometimes for a reason, but usually nothing I can control or anticipate.

So, when I have a good day, I try to consider it a gift, and do whatever I can. If the weather is nice, you can be darned sure that I'll be outside getting a little sun on my face. If the weather is less than wonderful, I'll spend that little bit of good time working on a bead project, singing Motown girl songs with the kids, or doing some activity I can't do when I'm in pain.

He doesn't see that by not using that good day, I'm losing it forever. I can be sure of an endless supply of bad days, but when a good day comes, I'm seizing it, even if it means I'll be sure to pay in pain later.

Does this make any sense at all? (It didn't to Bob)

vj found this in rec.crafts.beads, from Kathy N-V :

it certainly does! it's the way i operate, too. although i don't have the kind of physical pain you do. on good days, i go for it. on bad days, i just try to get through.

Holy crap!! Sooz, I just read about your mom as well - you sure have been knocked over lately. I'm sending all my love and lots of energy your way.

I see your point, but I think you're going to have to produce empirical evidence to convince him. Are you willing to sacrifice one or two good days in the near future? Take that good day and just kick back and relax instead of

*doing things* -- and then see if you still have the week of pain afterwards. If you do, then you can reasonably argue that he's wrong to assume that the bad week is directly connected to the amount of energy you spent on the good day, that it is indeed random and you should take advantage of the good days when they occur.

Sooz, it totally sucks when there's nothing left OF you FOR you after you finish with all the other stuff. I hope you're able to take it easy for a while to mend.

This is how I do it. If I have a good day after a bad one, I will often use it to rest so I can reap the rewards. But Kathy's pain may not work like mine does. ~~ Sooz

No work, ha ha ha. I stuck the pizza in my face and Kevin's, then packed the pizza up to feed my dad, and drove the 45 minutes to the hospital. Then after the hospital, I stuck pizza in my dad's face!!!

That was a dang useful pizza. ~~ Sooz

Totally!! Under a clear blue sky with sun and a little warmth, things can't help but appear better than they might be. In the grey rain, things appear crappier than they are sometimes. As long as it's not 95 degrees, that is.
