Would it be silly or wise to buy this kit? $525.00

I thought the concentrators were about $2.000. I will have to do more thinking now.

You won't regret buying that book. Mike refers to it frequently for information and inspiration. It's a great investment.

This happens with propane, as well, but not nearly as often. One propane tank lasts me a couple of months. I was getting a new oxy tank every 10 days or so. Ahhhhh, concentrator bliss.....<

Being one of the newly converted, I totally agree! I love my generator, even it's quiet hum is kinda pleasant. The propane isn't a big deal, since I can carry the tank up and downstairs myself, but it's yet another reason I can't wait to be inside, with natural gas again. I always knew the Midrange was "dirty" with propane (Cheryl warned me about that years ago) but sheesh it's a nuisance. I always wondered, when I was in PA in my basement (with nat. gas) what she was complaining about. NOW I know. Yuck!

Scott, check out this website for various concentrator/generator options. Paulette is terrific to work with and she can explain everything you need to know in detail.

A generator is around $2000. A concentrator can be had used for about $350 with shipping and no warranty.

Karen is SO right! I use a natural gas booster and an O2 Generator, and it's amazing! Of course, I can see that I will probably get to a point someday where I will need more than this system will deliver, but for now I'm one happy puppy...

And if hook two together you can really cook on the boro. I use two with my Midrange and it melts just like butter.

My advice is, if you're running a Lynx or smaller, go with two concentrators... half the price of a generator, and plenty of power for a Lynx or Midrange. If you want to go bigger, a Barracuda runs well on ONE of the generators but I don't remember which, and with anything else you need to stay with tanked.

And I got both of mine of eBay for about $200 each, shipped. EBay is risky, but I've been happy with mine for over a year.

Very much well worth the cost. You'll love it! I also can't stress enough the importance of owning "More than you ever wanted to know about glass beadmaking". *Every* beginner should own this. It's technically invaluable.

No - that's generators. Generators make the oxygen, concentrators pull the oxygen out of the air around you.

That's where I got mine. Wonderful service!

Karen - is your propane not outside?

Generators actually do exactly the same thing as concentrators, but on a larger scale; more volume, more pressure. Technically they're exactly the same kind of machine.

Ooooohh, okay thanks. I am only going off what my dad told me about generators. I get to tell him he's wrong - woohoo!!

The concentrators are less expensive. You are think of generators which are very expensive.

Scott,

If you are willing to come to Austin there is a oxygen concentrator here for $200. I know the artist and you would probably be jazzed to meet her if you have been watching eBay.
