Hi all,
I am new to the Bernina family and purchased a 185E just over two weeks ago. I am having some problems with the thread sensor and thread catching on the rotary hook. Let me start by mentioning that when I received the machine and embroidery module, the machine had a christmas tree logo on the box and the embroidery module had a manual in german and was missing the large hoop. When I returned the module to my dealer and got a new one, the manual was in english but it was still missing a large hoop. This is a minor issue and one easily resolved but now I am having troubles with the machine and becoming more frustrated with this large investment that was to make my sewing life bliss.
I have been sewing on the machine for approximately a week with no complications. Then, about two days ago the upper thread became caught on the rotary hook twice, once during sewing and once during embroidery. This concerned me but I cleared the jam and continued on. Yesterday I was embroidering in the large hoop and the problem became progressively worse. With every thread change or large movement of the needle, therefore every thread cut, the upper thread sensor would activate within the first couple stitches and the thread would catch on the rotary hook. I tried rethreading the machine with careful attention paid to the position of the presser foot and nothing helped, it became so chronic that I decided to quit my project and place a call to my dealer. I have posted articles on the Bernina message boards and have received feedback that the rotary hook and needle may be out of alignment but let me reiterate that this machine is a week old. My dealer worries that the christmas tree logo posted on some boxes which includes an instruction sheet for stitching the christmas tree deorative stitch upon initial set up may have something to do with this issue. This test was to check for proper balance which may have been affected during shipment. If the test failed, you were to return the machine to Bernina. I have no idea if this has any influence on my current issue, but I haven't read many posts about the 185E and I was wondering if there are maybe some bugs that haven't been resolved as this is one of there newer releases. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Heather
