Amazing box VS Magic Box

I just purchased a Bernina 165E and would like to be able to use designs off the web. I was wanting to purchase a Magic box from E-bay but, I am unsure if it the best thing to get. Should I get the Amazing box instead? What Software is available to use to combine text with existing designs?

Tina, I can only share with you the experience I have had with the Amazing Box and Great Notions, the company that makes/distributes it. I purchased one about 2 months ago and it stopped working, windows would give a message about the device being unkown and unrecognized-it was the USB version. It was unusable. Sometimes it would show up and work, sometimes not. If I restarted my machine, it would sometimes not be there when I got back to the desktop. Anyway, after talking with tech support, they gave me a return authorization number and replaced the unit. So as far as good support for a product, I believe they would do whatever needs to be done to keep the customer satisfied. Embird can add text to any design. It is definitely one of the best programs for the money. Good luck! Steve

Hi Tina, I bought a Magic Box about 18 months ago in Australia. It cost me $845 Australian and I have never been happy with it. It won't save to the computer which is my biggest gripe and you can only write 6 designs to a card. In the end I have just bought a PES2Card3usb from Sew Stuff and it is great. It can read all brands of cards and I can write 20 designs on a card to either my Pfaff or Brother embroidery machines. By the way, I have just given my Magic Box away to a friend because I was too embarrassed to ask for money. .....Lynne

I was lead to beleive that the Ultimate box was for the Bernina DECO and not the 165E Artista. I have heard good things about the Ultimate Box. I will look into if it will work with my machine.

Thanks.
