Buy expensive digitizing software and do it yourself or pay a digitizing company to do it for you?

I've been looking for wild mushroom embroidery designs(chanterelle, porcini etc). I have a Husqvarna Viking Rose and usually stay with the design cards, however because I couldn't find wild mushroom designs on a ready made card I thought I might have to make them myself. I've downloaded several trial versions of digitizing software such as Embird 2003 and have begun to realize how difficult digitizing is.

The thing is that I only need 10 or so designs - so should I commission the designs from a digitizing company or should I take the slow route and spend more time learning about how to digitize? I'll need to buy a reader/writer anyway so should I spend another 200-300 dollars more on the Embird software?

What do you think?

Many thanks, Andrew

I would go to a reputable digitizer. There are many listed in Google under embroidery digitizing. You will spend far more on programs and etc.....not to mention the difficulties in getting a really well digitized design out of the equipment on your own...............IMHO.........

Thanks Pat, I think you're right, just needed someone to help me decide. So now I'll be looking for a digitizer or for someone who already has designs of wild mushrooms. Andrew

Many thanks Herb, Couldn't find the Amazing Designs 2020 CD either, but I'll send an email to check. Also thanks for the info about the Russian site. I guess I can do some work with the cross stiching. I checked an online digitizer and they were asking 80 dollars for 8,000 stiches. Seems quite a lot to me as I have 10 pics that need digitiizing, so if the Amazing Designs CD is a no go, I'll have to take the long road and learn digitizing. Many thanks, Andrew

Try posting a picture on the alt .binaries.crafts.pictures, someone may help you but you will need a little patience. (night be useful if you turn any photos into a cartoon type copy.
