File cataloging/organizing ?'s

I'm just wondering how most people organize their design files. Do you use some sort of catalog database (if so which?)? Do you just put things into cooresponding folders (i.e. Bears, Hearts, Holidays, etc)? If so, how do you find your files (just look through all the folders?)? Organize by designer (i.e. Disney, AD, Cactus Punch, etc)?

Appreciate any advice on keeping things orderly!

I have Ann the Gran's Catalog express. It is easy to use and gives you thumnbail of all the designs you have in the category when you click on one.

You can also get Designer's Gallery from Baby Lock, which reads a lot of different formats, not just Baby Lock. It is what I use and very simple and easy to understand.

Thanks I'll check it out!

Totally agree! The "thumbnails" are of decent size so it´s really easy to browse around your designs and find what you are looking for even if you haven´t sorted the properly (an only too common problem for me...). The prize is $99, and it´s well worth it if you have many designs. You can download a demo version to use for 2 weeks. Personally I made my mind up in far less time than 2 weeks!
