Neoprene

Does anyone know where I might be able to find neoprene material? It is the material that wetsuit's are made out of.

Thank you for any help.

Look for a dive shop that makes their own custom wet suits, they just might sell you material. NO, you don't sew it, it's glued. It's a special glue, sort of melts/welds/bonds the seams. If you get a tear or hole you use a patch kit. The zipper in a wet suit is sewn with a long heavy running stitch and then reinforced and then bonded over so the neoprene won't tear out when the suit is zipped. Tricky to do, that's why people pay the professionals. What are you making with this stuff?

Thought about cup/can holders. But if you can't embroider on it then it won't work. I have seen the neoprene with a fabric on the one side and thought maybe that would work, but it is pretty expensive to buy just to find out it won't work. Thanks for the information.

Many years ago I was able to buy some neoprene from a company. I can't remember because it was so long ago but I think the name of the company was rubatex or rubbatex. It seems like I recall it was a company in the USA on the east coast, Virginia maybe? Anyway I was able to buy straight from them. I made my husband a wet suit from it. I had to use my serger to do a flat seem and then I taped the seems to seal them. He still has that wet suit. It must be 10 years old now.

Hope that helps. Kris
