Sticky stabilizers cause thread breaking

Hi, I've had really good help from you before, so I hope you will be able to give some advice on this one. When embroidering, I've tried to use sticky stabilizers, as f.x. SIA but the thread breaks all the time. It seems as if there is a build-up of gum on the needle - and maybe this is what is causing it. I've recently discovered the same thing happens if I use spray glue. I like the idea of not having to hoop the fabric, so what am I doing wrong and how do I get rid of my problem ??

Kind regards, Elsebeth

I use 505 basting spray all the time with no problems. Perhaps the culprit is the thread itself. I use mostly Marathon but also some Sulky, both cotton and rayon.
