Thread

Hi All,

I recently purchased a new machine Janome 300 embroidery only. We had a Brother but wanted a bigger field. We have been using Brother thread and wanted to get into more colors than Brother offers. We purchased Rayon Robison Anton after several people recommended that to us. We found that it breaks quite easily while threading in our new machine. It has also broke twice while stitching the one pattern we've done. We also think we don't really like the shiny result for our work. So we started investigating more thread.

Who actually manufactures Brother thread? Is Arc and Isacord the same thread? What thread do you use and why. Do you mix poly and rayon in the same pattern? Do you mix thread weight? Is Mettler color number really the same as Isacord color numbers? How do you match all the different numbers anyway?

Thanks for helping to "color my world"

JJ

I have always used POLY Robinson Anton.........never did like rayon----always shredded and broke for me. I do love the poly though...........

I have a Brother machine and personally like the 50 weight cotton threads because they don't look so "fake". I found that the 40 weight synthetics from Sulky break a lot, as do the Madeira and Mettler. The thread I use is made by Gutermann and you can find the thread through Craft Connection

Just do a search on their site for "Gutermann". You wouldn't believe the selection. For my bobbin, I use a 70 weight bobbin thread specifically made by Brother for my machine. I found it through Creative Sewing Machines

Hope this helps.
