Variegated Thread

Hi Guys, I am on a quest to find some red, white, green variegated thread. I do have some for quilting but am not sure it will work for machine embroidery. I have used a lot of the "built in" stitches on my machine but am still getting familiar with the memory card embroidery patterns. I don't have a very big spool of the r-w-g cotton -- it's 3ply made by YLI corp -- 30 wt. I *think*. Silly thing doesn't actually say what weight it is -- just has 30/3 ply on the label so I am sort of assuming it is 30 weight (sounds like I am talking about motor oil doesn't it -- LOL?). Anyway, Does anyone have any experience using quilting thread for machine embroidery? I would *really* like to find a variegated r/w/g rayon but am having no luck at all! I could be here for days looking at all the links I get from google!! Any help or advice is greaty apprecaited. Thanks & CiaoMeow

I have come across this shop on Ebay. Never used the stuff myself but looking at the feedback everyone seems happy with their purchases. They do several varigated ones as well as Disney colours. Its certainly reasonably priced and the colour range seems rather good.

Has anyone had any experience of it?? I think thats the only thing holding me back not having a personal recommendation.

Just thought I'd better add to scroll down the page for the rest of the colours ( for people who dont use ebay). Clicking on a smaller picture will give the enlarged view.

I haven't used variagated quilting thread, but have used plain quilting thread in my embroidery machine. Just a tension adjustment and it was fine. Do a test stitchout. You can find rayon on Ebay, look for art silk thread-here's a link:

the shipping charges! Some of the people are overcharging because thethread coming from India was selling so well, a lot of people got on thebandwagon and started selling the thread. I ordered mine from a girl inIndia and the $10 charge for shipping was acceptable. But she was selling abox of 12 spools for $3.00- can you believe it? 13 bucks for 12 spools isstill pretty cheap. Also watch for 100% silk if that is what you want. ArtSilk is not silk, it is rayon!I think you'll be pleased with the selections and the different look it willgive your work.
