What is the best way to get silicon off of lead came? Thanks, Connie

Replacethe lead came.

You can spend a lot of wasted time trying to "trim" it off when it will still be there. If you are removing it to repair the panel and reinstall it, just take off enough to do what you need to, then reinstall. Silicon sticks like crazy to lead.

I use a small block plane, or a super-sharp lead knife. I don't worry about getting it all off, because the perimiter lead is "supposed" to be behind the wood, anyway. I only worry about getting the lumps off so that a new bead of silicone will lie smooth and the panel will fit back into the opening evenly.
