totally amateur glass question

May 22, 2004 3 Replies

Hi everyone,

I'm not a glassblower nor do I work with it, but I've always thought it was such a beautiful art. Anyway, I have a question that I seem unable to find any information on. I am curious to know how simple glass window panes are made. I searched all over the internet, but the only thing I was able to come up with was microsoft windows. I remember seeing a TV show that explained that they were made on a bed of melted tin to make them perfectly smooth. But I might be mixing this up a little bit. If anyone could point me to a website explaining it, that would be great:)

Sincerely, Anthony
