A productive couple of weeks

Finishing up some UFOs and doing small projects makes me feels very productive!

Last night I put the last cross-stitches in the second of a pair of "name" ornaments from M Designs. They're the names of my BFF's parents, who both have recently died, and this will be a remembrance for her. Have yet to do the beading and assembly, but just finishing the stitching is a major accomplishment. They're on 36-count hand-dyed linen, over one, in silk. I could only do them in a frame (I normally work in hand) and only an hour or so (occasionally two) at night. They've taken less than three months, with other things interspersed, so that's not bad.

I joined the canvaswork ornament club at the LNS and have enjoyed making the three ornaments so far. January is completely done - even assembled; Feb. and March are stitched but not assembled yet. Will try to get to that this week.

I stitched the ornament from a JCS ornie issue (maybe 2006?) of an Advent wreath that came out lovely. This will be a birthday gift for a neighbor. Her birthday is in October, so for once I won't be racing the clock! I'm planning to make it into the lid of a small box.

Finished making a quilted table runner for DS's SIL for her birthday next December (I'm on a roll, huh?). Just have to handstitch the binding at my monthly Stitchfest tomorrow night.

And a UFO from last fall - hemmed a new dress I made. I had it all done, even buttons sewn on, and put it aside. Finally pulled it out of the tote bag it was stuffed into and did the hem, so I'll have a new "frock" to wear later this week!

Just don't ask me what the house looks like, LOL!

Congratulations! That's a lot of stuff to finish. I'm jealous about the dress. I used to sew a lot of my own clothes, but just haven't gotten to it lately. Gotta do something about that.

Priorities, priorities!

Same here - I used to do so much sewing when I was a SAHM. Now that I'm a SAHE (stay-at-home-employee) I just don't ever seem to get to it anymore, except occasionally on weekends. I think I might turn DD's abandoned bedroom into a new sewing room because it would be the same effort as cleaning out/organizing the current sewing room!! And maybe that'll give me more incentive. Meanwhile, a lot of my clothes are looking frayed, so I have to do *something*!
