Any BODY embroidering ???

Thanks, Cheryl and Sheena. I am thankful for the memories. Mom used to sew many of my clothes when I was little and would make an identical dress for my doll. (It was her mother who interested me in crewel embroidery and knitting when I was 10 or so.) It's kind of funny, Mom kept all sorts of old paperwork and stuff, nothing really of interest now other than to chuckle over how much she paid for a stove in 1983, that sort, but I wish she had kept some of the dresses she made for me and the matching doll outfits. Oh well, I figure in

40 years or so, my daughter will probably be saying, "why did Mom keep all this cross-stitch stuff and not the 'important" stuff that I wanted..." ;-)

I just read the note about your mother and I want to express my condolences. May her memory be forever a blessing.

Too true likely. I have pondered that with email de rigueur now we are deleting much we should keep. I have wonderful letters written from my mother to her mother and returned. We are excluding our children from these insights into the past with email. I try to make some effort to print. Stay with nice, happy memories.

Cherish those memories, and enjoy the legacy of handwork that connects the generations in your family.

I've recently done a few more baptismal cloths for our church, stitched names and dates on the cloths for a former pastor's kids (not something I usually do) and am now back to working on Joseph from my nativity set. Nothing exciting going on here, unless you also count the quilt (my first) I've started for DD, which isn't embroidery. :)

I count the quilt, too. It's still stitching, even if it's accomplished with the aid of a machine! :)

I forgot to mention the crochet baby blanket I'm working on, too....that comes out when the eyes/brain get tired of working on smaller and more detailed work. And at meetings.

Since I finished the Lily Sampler I've not been in the mood for anything big. I started another Janlynn Sampler called Provence which will go to my friend. I did a little needlepoint of a Japanese fan and I'm working on a small ornament done on perforated paper, which will be given away to someone when it's done. I just wanted to see what it was like to work on the paper. It's kind of yuck so once will be enough.

I'm waiting for the fabric for the Laura Perin piece and I think I'll probably start that soon.

I can't seem to find something that isn't boring me. I think I need a change.

Probably just winter blues.
