Big time S. E. X.

This past Saturday, I went on a field trip with a few members of my EGA chapter. The first stop was Jane's Beads and Fibers. Even the beading mavens were impressed by the extensive inventory: I now own what may be a lifetime supply of purple, red, green, blue, etc., seed beeds.

Spurred by renovations due to water leak, I decided to put beige drapes from the living room in a small bedroom and then replace those with non-custom made ones. I visited every store in a ten mile radius and didn't see any that said 'hang me' until I had an ephinany -- buy inexpensive ivory panels and then embellish them with stitching and/or appliques. The stitching gods and goddesses must have approved of my decision because yesterday's EGA meeting had a program on reverse appliques. I have to practise that technique and then decide if I'm skillful enough.

Finally, the EGA chapter is planning a bus trip to the vendor showcase during the CATS thing in Nashville so I have a question -- what types of needlework things are usually sold during CATS?

Isn't it nice when the gods seem to approve of your plans. Good luck on the draperies.

As for CATS, if you go to their website

and click on the Exhibitors link, you will see a list of main vendors that will be present. The vast majority of what you see will be cross-stitch patterns. Certain shops will carry other types of needlework. Liz Turner-Diehl will have a decent selection of non-cross-stitch stuff. You will also find a fair amount of hardanger in certain shops. You will either need to bring a credit card with plenty of room or lots of willpower.

hehe -- one out of two is a good percentage.

Some of the larger vendors will have some fibers. I have bought some silks there in the past that my LNS don't carry, but could order if I was willing to wait. Since CATS was just a few days away at the time I thought I would see what I could find there. I was able to find everything I needed.

The vendors vary a lot. Some are strictly a certain designer or two. These booths are generally smaller. Others vendors are associated with a needlework store. They will have the biggest variety of patterns/tools/fibers and other stuff.

Not sure if they are going to Nashville or not, but Hershey also has had a couple of booths with the specialty dyed fabrics too.
