I was not familiar with him, and his work.

I love glass art..and am building a small collection of Josh Simpson's work. They aren't cheap...but what things worth looking at, and losing yourself in, are? His is blown art, and no piece is identical. Absolutely love them He is from Mass...and at this time his wife is up in the sky at the S;pace Station.(Cady Coleman)

From earth to sky..........what a range of interests.

Indeed - if there is something I would regret that I never will do that is see the earth from space. From all I read and see, it really must be a tug.

Who knows ? Maybe after one is dead ?

That's pretty cool, having a Chihuly piece. When I was at CMU the path from my office thru to the student union was thru the basement of the building which has the Chem Eng/Chem upstairs, and the Materials Science & Glass/Ceramic studios downstairs. Walked thru those glass labs a lot, and was constantly fascinated with the work done there by the glass artists.

DH is playing in a hockey tourney in Pgh in mid-May. I'm slightly tempted to go along...and visit Pgh. OTOH, it's a tournament of refs from all over, and a weekend with the boys drinking beer may be too much for me ...at least at this particular time.

If you decide to visit Pgh we will have to try to meet up. Maybe by then we might actually have spring!!!! March definitely roared out like a lion.

I'm always up for in RL meetings... As for the spring, maybe - I still remember the folly of having my snow tires taken off on April 14, to be followed by snowstorm on April 17. Seems like just yesterday.

I honestly don't know what I'll be doing - I tend to think that DH can have a be one of da'boys trip. In the past for tourneys like this, either I was in shape and it was our "B" team so I played, or his seriously good (all former juniors, Div I, minor leaguers) team, which let me coach from the bench, as I knew all those guys. I do know most of these guys, but as I've been "fat and broken" for a few years, not skating - just doing evals, not really feeling like I want to be in the midst. And I'm a bad fan 'cause I hate listening to the parents/friends, etc yelling. That said, who knows what the actual ref situation will be. DH has said that having a trip with the guys is fine, but while they can all get blotto each night, he's pretty much limited to just a couple of beers 'cause he actually needs to see the puck! Anyhow, I'll let you know if I decide to go. Being guys, they've made no plans that I know of at this time.

Not a great drive... We used to go to Buffalo a lot - for some bizarre reason - the guys I was friends with had friends at SUNY Buffalo, so we went there. I can't explain it. Of course if we go to DGodD's MIT graduation, then there is the potential for driving up from Boston. Who knows. It's all about the work situation at this point.

Too bad we didn't know each other when I was virtually living in Hampton, or Burlington (usually in Hampton). Bizarrely, one of the restaurants we used to go to allllll the time is where Donna told me she went for prom dinner. One of the guys I worked with - the plant engineer at the time - lived in/near Londonderry. Pretty much all the guys lived in NH, except for the really older senior guys who lived in some Mass 'burb. No one actually lived in Amesbury (where the plant was) - which is how I ended up being in Hampton so much.

if you're in Cambridge, and will be there for more than the day of graduation, I'll come to you if all possible!
