San Francisco trip adventure - actually on topic

My DH had a meeting during May in San Francisco - so of course, I needed to join him. One day I ventured out and found Art Fibers.

is really an adventure to get there as it is upstairs and down alittle somewhat seedy hall. There is a sign but it would be reallyeasy to miss - fortunately I had looked up yarn stores in the phonebook, so I had an address. Imagine my surprise when I found I kneweveryone there! (the young clerk was a grad student who I had met inSeattle and the customers were also spouses whose husbands were at themeeting)

This place is physically unassuming but the yarns are truly spectacular! I did come home with a few balls - but came away with lots of ideas. This is a place where they encourage all sorts of experimentation with fibers. (For the curious I bought two balls of Sage- an alpaca/merino mix - for a hat and a ball of Misti (I don't see it on the website but it is a lace weight silk/mohair mix) in rose for a scarf. I needed to pet the Kyoto - it was gorgeous. They have comfortable chairs by the front window and samples for people to try out so they can swatch and feel the fabric.

Whoops! I gave the wrong name for the lace weith silk/mohair -- going from memory is a mistake. The real name is Tsuki. It is really lovely stuff - I plan to make this scarf with it

That is tempting. I will see what I can do - I found the information for it online so I have date, time location etc. Now I have to talk DH into an adventure. He is in Amsterdam this week but will be back on the 7th. Maybe he will be so adventured out that I will need to figure this one out myself.

I am sure he had a great time in Amsterdam, right when they were voting on the European Union's constitution, a no vote, by the way. There is lots to do and to see in Amsterdam. What was he doing in there.

Let me know what the outcome of you "charming your husband into going to Victoria", will be.....:=))
