Completed project

Believe it or not a post about embroidery :)

I just finished my "slip" of a red-winged blackbird. It is to be appliqued onto a National Tapestry being created by the American Embroiderer's Guild. It will consist of 5 large panels representing the various areas across the country. No man-made creations but lots of natural beauty represented - plants, birds, animals, lakes, waterfalls, etc. The tapestry should be gorgeous when finished - every chapter of EGA is expected to participate, stitching both slips and the background.

For those of you who are interested, I've posted a scan of my piece here:

's hard to see but I stitched the cattail with turkey stitch and then cutthe loops so it actually stands out from the background and is denselyfluffy just like a real one. I will miss this little guy when he's gone -but I have plenty of live red-winged blackbirds out in our pond by the barn! Thanks for letting me share! MelissaD

Sorry to follow up my post but my name seems to be missing from my signature line. I enjoyed your projects Ruby S.

Your blackbird is wonderful and I love the dragon - and so would my son! Could you share the pattern and what you did?

Another version of our Bernard Matthews " If a cat`s born in a stable - it doesn`t make it a horse!" Can`t stand the man, but he does come out with a gem from time to time!

I have no idea as it came to me in a email. Lists of various quotes. However you have me curious. I must see if I can track it down. ah! seems it is Mr. anonymous.
