Cool Embroidery on Romanian Webistes....

site has some of the most complex and awesome embroidery I'veever seen. There's other stuff besides blouses, but the blouses arethe coolest in my opinion. No I don't work for them nor am I in anyway benefiting from their sales. I just think it's the coolest"peasant blouses" I've ever seen. I'm not good enough to do this stuff yet. But I can guess at some of it. Note the smocking at the neckline on most of them? I bet it's squares of fabric that are gathered at the neck with smocking to form the shape of the blouse.

Enjoy! Ann

I was just showing these to my husband. He lived in Romania for five years, while it was still part of the Soviet bloc. He said he saw lots of the women wearing these. There is a booklet available, for making pillows using these Romanian designs. I bid on it in an auction, but it got away from me.

Absolutely gorgeos.

There is also a lot of colourful Hardanger stitching done on traditional Romanian costumes. It is completely different to what we use for Hardanger, and it looks absolute stunning. Colours are very contrasting, with lots of yellows, red and browns.

Thought about doing some of these type of designs as well.
