Darn folds again!!

I'm about to tackle Sophisticated Lady (JDR 6018), a Brazilian embroidery design. The design is stamped on fabric (linen??) which has been folded and folded again. The last time I tried to remove folds from another kit using a steam setting when a dry iron didn't work, the folds almost disappeared but the image blurred.

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Copy the Image on paper Before Ironing steaming the cloth !!!!! mirjam

Can you not stretch it in a hoop, embroider it, then get out the folds when you wash it in the finishing stage? That would be my inclination.

Did you put a press cloth between iron and embroidery design? Not just a thin hankie, but an actual heavier press cloth? We do that in the shop - bought some coated ones in 2 weights. That would be my suggestion - a towel underneath, a cloth on top, and don't Move the iron around, so the piece isn't shifting- just press and release.

Good luck

I did just that in case the design got messed up

GMTA ;-)

My mind is quite mushy lately ;-( I forgot I had teflon (???) press cloths even though one sits right next to the iron. Pressing didn't completely remove the folds but after mounted on qsnaps, they aren't visible

The design was kitted by the shop I bought it from. Included in that kit is some kind of 'special' backing whose name I've forgotten. I wasn't sure if that's washable so I wanted to get things right before putting a needle to the materials.

Anne I hope you were able to correct that which went wrong GOOD and happy stitching to you mirjam
