do you sign your work?

Hi! As some of you may know, I love needlepoint, especially pre-printed Penelope canvas. I can use the tent stitch (I hope the term is right), but putting my initials...no no no. I have no skills for that, and that is the reason I won't put my name into any projects I stitch. Best: Pirjo

What about around the edge, where there is no pattern. Then if you remae it, it will be with the piece.

Hi! Well, usually I stitch that one too. It is a must to me, or the sides may...rip or something. I can not explain it very well but stitching all the good areas keeps the whole thing in good condition.

But you could put your initials and the date in there while you are stitching it.

Similar to you, I fit in a small glyph of my initials, and the year. But I also do a signed label with some info on the back of the frame (dust backing). I do fabric labels for my quilts, on the back. I do like Gary's idea of putting some more info stitched into the extra fabric border, so it would be there if the piece changes frames, etc.

True. There's actually an entire quilter's accessory business in labels. Some people print them on fabric from their computers. I have some fabric that is printed as labels - then I either stitch in the info, or write it on with archival markers (no, I don't use sharpie's on fabric - bad thing). Then the label usually goes on the back of the quilt - not inside the sandwich, but where if you turn it over you see it. It's amazing all the fabrics you see printed for label use - some even come in rolls rather than as traditional bolt goods. HP has label templates on their website.

Absolutely yes. They're often adamant about it, and rare is the quilt shop that does *not* stock pens of various point sizes and colors for just that purpose. Darla Sacred cows make great hamburgers. Picture Trail Gallery:
