I just took a skein of DMC white and tied it up with tie dye cord. Wonder how it will come out!

My comment is about the doldrums. Even though I am in air conditioning anyway, I am so so slow in the summer. I have plenty of time to get things done now but not accomplishing any where near the amount as winter. I get my cabin fever in the summer, not winter ! Anyone else like this? barbie in williamsburg

MOI -- HATE the summer and suffer from what the Dr. called "Reverse S.A.D." (Seasonal Affective Disorder). I am depressed most of the summer and hardly go outside at all. It's a bit better here in Magnoliaville as it doesn't get near as hot as Lizard Land but there is STILL wayyyy too much sunshine for MOI!!!! At least here we get rain and the fairly occasional cloudy day. Of course, with the rain comes the humidity and, while not as horrible as Florida, it's sill more humidity than I like. this is the first year that the humidity has ctually been nasty for more then a few days -- we've had two whole weeks of it -- LOL! Anyway, I *really* don't like the summer and the only reason I get anything accoplished is because I have a major deadline or I manaage to guilt myself out :-)))))! CiaoMeow >^;;^< PAX, Tia Mary
I have dual problems - I love being outside in the summer, but not necessarily in the sun unless I am in the garden. But I hate being all sun-screened and floppy hats and otherwise trying to protect myself from too much sun.
BUT - I HATE, DESPISE and otherwise LOATHE being in the AC'd house. It is just too dry for my allergy prone self and makes the dust settle and really hard to remove.

I'm with you on this one. I dislike summer and resent that it's so damned hot and humid here in Florida that it's near impossible to get out. Calling it Reverse S.A.D. sounds like a perfect name for the depression I feel.
The only good thing is that I get a lot of needlework done because I'm in so much.

Absolutely!!! It's far too hot to do anything constructive, and sometimes even too hot to sit at the floor stand because my concentration is so flaky when I get this warm. And my windowbox air conditioner is incapable of keeping up.
Plus add in the extra distraction of new books and it's a wonder I'm getting anything done at all.
Pffffttttttttttttttttttt to you!
Northern Illinois is currently sitting at SEVEN WEEKS of less than an inch of rain!!! Total!!! Until yesterday, we were at a whopping quarter inch in that seven weeks, yesterday we had a surprise storm that wasn't on radar as late as 11:00 in the morning, the official reading on that was 0.60 inches although some areas received more unofficially. Our average rainfall year to date is about 18 inches, we're currently clocking in at just a tad under 13. And I think we're at 20 days of 90+ degree weather, when on an average summer we get about 10.
What I wouldn't give for a prolonged, multi-day, steady soaking right about now...
Welcome to California. We have almost all our rain between December and March.
And we spend 100+ days a year above 90.

I also hate to spend my days inside of an air conditioned house. My MIL has lived in both Pembrook Pines, FL and Phoenix, AZ since DH & I have been married and wonders why we don't visit more. YUCK! ! ! Hot & sticky in one area & hot & DRY in the other. Her response when we comment about the heat is: It doesn't matter since everyone has air conditioning. Some people just don't understand that some of us really ENJOY BEING OUTSIDE! ! ! ! :-) I also hate getting all gooped up ulness I'm going to be outside long enough to make the procedure worth while. If I'm only going out to move the hose or to check the chickens I don't want to have to obsess about the sun screen & big hat. It's been hot this week - in the low 100s but we only have a couple of weeks (and usually not all together) of temperatures over 100 so DH & I have a window unit in the bedroom but nothing in the rest of the house. If we close up the house when the inside & outside temperatures match, the house stays a good 10 to 15 deg. cooler than outside. I open things up at sundown (or when temps. outside come down close to what inside is) and by the time DH gets home in the middle of the night the house is OK. I turn the bedroom AC on when I go to bed & by the time DH gets home it's cool enough for him to get to sleep so he turns the AC off. I like to hear the birds chirping from inside the house & would hate to live with the windows constantly closed up & cold air blowing around. Liz from Humbug
Have you considered getting a humidifier installed on your HVAC system? You can do that and it might keep you a bit more comfortable if you can maintain the humidity at a comfortable level for you year round.
Best wishes, Ericka
Supposedly the humidifier is inline, but you can't prove it by me!

Huh. Do you have a humidity gauge so that you can tell what the humidity actually is in your home? And can you adjust the setting on the humidifier? If the humidity is low, maybe something's out of whack with it. If it's not low, maybe there's somthing about the a/c that makes it feel drying to you, and maybe you could up the humidity setting (unless that would get it high enough that you'd start having problems with molds and such).
Best wishes, Ericka
We have a dial to set it on the AC unit - but like the heat - it always feels too dry.
