Dog lovers

I just saw a fashion parade for dogs on tv - loads of quilted, embroidered and bejewelled dog coats. Made me wonder if any of you have thought of making a cross stitch coat for your dog - if you have the sort of dog that wouldn`t spit in your eye if you tried it, that is! Lucille`s Puff might be just the sort to look really cute in one.

There are many breeds that it would suit, Yorkies, Whippets etc.

Please, I wouldn't dream of putting my guy in a jeweled coat. Maybe a crown for his royal head but no coat.

Having said that, I will admit that he does have a cross stitched blankie to rest his weary bones.

I wasn`t daring to suggest a JEWELLED coat, but you could have fun with a cross stitched one, or even a beaded one! ;-) You could even line it with something warmer - and it would still be washable.

Maggie has quite enough coat of her own, sadly - but if I had a whippet, now - well - there`s no telling what the poor thing might end up wearing. I`m often tempted when I see whippets advertised - I have a friend who has always had them, and they`ve all been lovely little fairy-like creatures and very sweet natured.

My Emma is quite the fashionista--but very few clothes are made in her size. I do have a sweater for her in progress, which calls for Spoiled Rotten in duplicate stitch. Perhaps I could consider adding something a bit more.

When we had dogs...(our last one a 17yo Maltese Shitzu cross passed away last year) they all wore coats in the winter and loved them. Among them they had embroidered, knitted, crocheted and machine sewn polar fleece coats.

Puff has two knitted coats and one crocheted, several crocheted afghans for his crate, a knitted afghan for his recliner, and a cross stitch afghan for his recliner. Does anyone think he's deprived?

I just can't for the life of me figure out why anyone would want to put jewels on a dog. Especially a Maltese that is a frou frou dog to begin with.

p.s. I forgot to mention the yellow slicker rain coat that he got as a birthday gift from a friend.>

His recliner?! Is that a child/dog-sized one, or has he taken over one in the living room?

His recliner is actually the reclining love seat that's in my computer room. One side is mine and the other is his, and I feel sorry for those who try to take over his seat. They get a dirty look and sometimes even a push.

Not that he's spoiled or anything !!!!!

Oh, no: no one could ever say our four-legged friends are spoiled, be they canine or feline. (Uh-huh.) ;-))
