Dublin LNS?

We are venturing off the main continent as a family to celebrate Thanksgiving in a nontraditional way... in Ireland, Dublin to be correct.

Are there any LNS in town? I'm in a small sort of hell in Germany, or at least this part of it, so I'd love to find a place to go while in Dublin. It needs to be within walk, bus or taxi ride as we're not messing with renting a car on this trip.

My oldest is quite excited as he's not left Germany since we arrived in May. Maybe this will be our new family tradition to go somewhere way not normal for us to celebrate Thanksgiving :)

It's been several years since I was there but the one LNS that *had* been there went out of business :-(. I did find some needlework stuff in several of the general department stores in the Grafton Street area. Dublin is a wonderful town and I loved the time we were there. I had wanted to see the Book of Kells but we were there over the weekend and the University stuff was closed. You and the family will have a wonderful time, I am sure. There is tons of shopping and a pub on almost every corner. It's a lively, vibrant town with loads of stuff to do. I especially loved it because I got to see all of the things my Granny (who was from Ireland) had told me about. VBS -- I do hope that I get to go back again before DH retires and we move back west. Enjoy and let us know how the trip goes. CiaoMeow >^;;^<

I don't know anything about Dublin, but I do know something about Germany. I have found a number of wonderful LNS's there. There are also several Germans on this newsgroup. Where are you? Maybe I (or someone else) can help you you find a gem. Rachel in Scottsdale

Rachel: Greatly appreciate any info on German LNS :) I'm not near Berlin, but hope to get up there sometime. We actually are in Heidelberg in the SW part of the country. (Black Forest is within a couple hours drive, Strasbourg France a couple of hours, Zurich 3 hours or so)

Tia Mary: Thank you for the words on Dublin! We are quite excited to be going over there. I will make a note about Grafton street. Hopefully we can get to the college to see the Book of Kells. And of course, a pub or two ;D

Jenn: Thanks for the hugs! I so need them! It's going ok here, just terribly lonely. I don't miss family per se, but really miss talking to one of my friends every day on our Verizon cells. LOL It was CHEAP then.

Susan, Short supply of LNS here in Dublin I'm afraid. Hickey's Fabric Shop on Henry Street does have a small selection of kits, fabric and threads downstairs. If you are in some of the bigger Irish gift shops ask at the till if they stock any cross stitch kits, they may have some Irish designs. Regards Ann
