Can anyone recommend some good needlepoint shops to visit while I am in England?

Four years ago I found a lovely little shop just around the corner from Kensington Palace. I don't remember the name, unfortunately, but it was in a small shopping area with lots of small shops surrounding a center courtyard just off High Street. The shop had a wonderful collection of hand-painted canvas and very good quality materials. My sister had done some internet searches for needlework shops in London and found several, and we went to that one because of its location.

If you are in the North of England then you could do worse than visit Tandem Cottage in Glossop

I second that recommendation wholeheartedly. Nice people to deal with, too.

Tandem Cottage is in a lovely part of England - but I'm biased as I was brought up in Hayfield, a village about 10 miles from Glossop on the road to Buxton.

If you are going to be in Derbyshire there is a very good needlework shop called Wye Needlework in Bakewell.

I had a boyfriend came from Glossop! I'm still friends with him 26 years later, and his wife! Often wonder what might have happened if I'd taken "the other path".

Must have missed this message until now.

What I did when we visited the UK was to buy an English needlecraft magazine and read the advertisements. That's how you find the shops.

We found the most interesting one with hollyhocks growing outside the door in the High Street of the gorgeous Cotswolds village of Chipping Campden and visited a few times. Sadly I have not been able to locate it with Google so it is most likely gone as this was a few (or more) years ago.
