Fiber of the month

If you were to sign up for a fiber of the month, which fiber would you choose and why?

I want to start experimenting with SEX but I don't know where to start. I have tried a couple of overdyes and silks, but no favourites yet. Do you have any?

HMMM - thinking really hard

What I would see as a great idea may not appeal to everyone, but here it goes:

I'd like fiber of the month club to send me several different ones, like a silk, a silk blend, a cotton, a metallic, a wool.... All in the same color family

For example: In a leaf green:

1 Ginnie Thompson flower thread (1 ply cotton) 1 Gumnuts Daisies (1 ply wool) 1 Thread Gather Silk n' Colors (silk - 12 ply) 1 WDW or GAST 1 Floche 1 Perle 1 ribbon 1 Kreinik - a metallic or blending filament!

Lots of variety! after all - how many different brands and makers are there? Cheryl

I like the way you're thinking, but can mine be in blue instead of green?

I think that depends on the type of stitching one likes to do. I'm a frugal free style, chunky/funky embroiderer. Although I love the weeks overdye, I think it's a bit pricey for the amount of thread I might need for a project. Ginny Thompson flower thread gives a lot of bang for the buck so I wouldn't mind having all the colo(u)rs. I love Needle Necessities variegated threads but doubt if I would want the whole line.

That's a great idea. I've been collecting white fibers to use on my version of the wedding sample someone here suggested.

Ah, but that is the beauty of "my plan" - you could get try something new - instead of WDW's, you'd get Six Strand Sweets, or Stranded by the Sea.

Interesting question -

I'd like to have a fiber collection made up of interchangeable threads - for instance: One month a variety of matte threads, comparable in thickness to flower thread. Month two - a collection of shiny threads similiar to ribbon floss. Month three - metallics that could be substituted for #8 Balger. And so on

I don't have the time to keep up with all the fibers being introduced. It would be nice to have some help in understanding what's available and the characteristics of the threads - washable? fuzzy? smooth? stranded? braided? divisible? etc

I would choose...

Caron Waterlilies silks - I used one for a Moonshadow Stitchery bell pull several years ago and it was wonderful to work with!

Needle Necessities overdyes because I just like the colors! :>)
