Got a question re Caron.

I usually cut the entire skein into 36" lengths at once. (It's a double twisted hank with one end poked into the loop, like a skein of perle cotton. Pull that end out of the loop and let the hank untwist. Cut just once, by the knot.) Then I lark's head it around the hole in the card it comes on. Cut and stripped strands get put in a different lark's head through the same hole. Partially used strands get yet another lark's head.

Great idea, Jenn. Why didn't I think of that!!! I like things on the label, bobbin etc, clearly labelled so I don't mess up!. Shall do that this evening!

Do you mean Watercolors and not Wildflowers? Watercolors is the yarn fiber that Claudia uses lots of in her tabletoppers. I usually keep mine in a sandwich bag in a single knot, or a doves eye so I can undo it when I want, and still keep the strands I'm using separately from the others. I think I'm going to do the chicken one next - or the one with crows and corn stalks. Those tabletoppers are very addictive (I've nun stitched from here to Arizona & back) and have the added bonus of not having to be framed! :-) Liz from Humbug

Yep, that is what I meant!! I just went and looked at the labels. Being somewhat drifty (early senility??), I have done the "cut in lengths, and larks-head knot through the label" technique. Otherwise, I would lose the labels and be up the proverbial creek!!

I started one of her toppers, and it is still in an UFO box right now. It was grapes and bees IIRC. I have several other of her charts, and hopefully I will also get addicted. I am pretty sure I can do this without the magnifier; a big plus when one is travelling. I have just got very lazy, and use the Dazor for all my stitching! I have to work out the Nun Stitch. I was a tad confused by just reading the instructions, but I guess it will all work out OK! I am leaving the needle threaded; hopefully the inspectors will let it through. If not, they are welcome to the needle.
